Upcoming Events
Are you looking for a way to support the effort to protect our libraries? Consider attending one or more of the upcoming county commissioners’ or library board meetings. We’d like to really show up for these meetings, but not every one of us has the time to attend every meeting. Instead, we’re asking all supporters to consider attending when you can.
There is no limit on numbers of attendees, and you can just show up and listen, or you can speak at most of these meetings (please see the individual event entry for instructions). We encourage you to attend as many of these meetings as you are able.
Having large numbers in the audience (wear yellow if you can) lets these boards know that we are not going away. The libraries are critical services in our county, and we want to make our presence felt as these groups consider their fate.
And, don’t forget to join us for JCPL Allies-sponsored events. Can’t wait to see you!

Regular meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by a work session at 7 p.m.
Item number 8 on the agenda for the regular meeting are the proposed policies regarding the use of the community spaces in the Sylva and Cashiers Jackson County Public libraries. The policy for the Sylva library continues to exclude public use of the Community Room, limiting its use to library and government use only. The policy for the Cashiers library is much more extensive, allowing for the public's use for education, training, and artistic activities. The result is two completely different policies for the two libraries in Jackson County.
Please consider addressing the commissioners in person at this meeting to let them know your thoughts on this double-standard.
