A Sea Of Yellow

The Jackson County Commissioner's meeting on Aug. 5 was once again a sea of yellow. Twenty-four people spoke in favor of our libraries and staying within the Fontana Regional Library system. One person spoke against the FRL, and he used wildly incorrect numbers to do so.

Supportive speakers shared their love of the library system and their hope that the Commissioners will be brave enough to reverse their decision while there is still time. The focus of the comments was on the financial ramifications of leaving the system and the many questions that remain about the process. The point was to show the Commissioners, and the community, that this decision was not well thought out and is a much more difficult process than people imagined.

Most importantly, we made it very clear that we will not back down from this issue without a fight. We appreciate everyone who came to support the FRL.
