Please help the JCPL Allies nominate the amazing Tracy Fitzmaurice, director of the Jackson County Public Libraries, for the I Love My Librarian Award!

This national award, made possible by the American Library Association, recognizes the outstanding public service contributions of librarians working in public, school, college, community college or university libraries. As recommended by the awards committee, we are collecting all nominations now so that we can submit them in one group by Monday, Dec. 15, 2025.

Ten librarians will each receive $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding achievements. Awardees will be honored at the I Love My Librarian Award ceremony at the 2026 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago; honorees will also receive free full conference registration and a travel stipend to cover expenses as part of their award packages.

Make your nomination as effective as possible by following these basic guidelines. Then, go here to make your nomination.

We want everyone to know just how much of an impact Tracy has had on the quality of our library and its service to our community. During these very difficult times, Tracy has been the stalwart protector of the freedom to read in our community while providing a safe space in which to do it. We want to let her know just how much she means to us, and this prestigious award is one way we can do that.

If you have any questions about this process or the award itself, please let us know at jcplallies@gmail.com. Thank you for supporting our libraries and Ms. Tracy Fitzmaurice.
