This is an official announcement from Tracy Fitzmaurice, the director of the Jackson County Public Libraries, about a much-deserved recognition for our libraries. Congratulations to all!
Hi Everyone,
I am pleased to announce that our two Jackson County libraries have been selected for the 2025 Western Carolina University Mountain Heritage Award. If you visit this link you will see the long list of past winners.
Our Jackson County Public Libraries were selected in recognition of our decades-long commitment to cultural preservation and education.
"Through heritage programming at both the Sylva and Cashiers libraries, the system has provided immersive learning experiences and meaningful community engagement that truly reflect the spirit of this award."
The award presentation will be this Saturday, September 27th, at 3:30pm by Chancellor Kelli Brown at the Bardo Arts Center.
JCPL (Jackson County Public Library Complex-Sylva) and ACCCL (Albert Carton-Cashiers Community Library) wouldn't be getting this award without the hard work and dedication of all of our wonderful staff so if you see them next time you're at the library, please congratulate them. If you're planning on going to Mountain Heritage Day please join us at the Bardo Arts Center.
Thank you all!
Tracy
