Tracy Fitzmaurice, director of the Jackson County Public Libraries, has earned the North Carolina Library Association's Distinguished Library Service Award! The award will be presented at the All-Conference Reception on Thursday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Forsyth County Central Library.

Nominators cited numerous reasons why she is deserving of the award, including: "She has dedicated decades of her life to improving information access to the people of Western North Carolina and strives daily to develop new opportunities for growth and success for her community and her staff" and "Her commitment to her professional ideals of integrity, service to others, and freedom of access have never been in question by those who know her and work with her."

The award is presented every two years to a member of the NCLA who has made significant contributions to the profession. Criteria include distinguished service to North Carolina, significant service or other professional contributions provided during either a short of long span of time, and service resulting in a regional or national impact on librarianship in general.

Please join us in congratulating Tracy on this much-deserved and prestigious honor!
