The Jackson County Commissioner's meeting on Aug. 5 was once again a sea of yellow. Twenty-four people spoke in favor of our libraries and staying within the Fontana Regional Library system. One person spoke against the FRL, and he used wildly incorrect numbers to do so. Tracy Fitzmaurice – Regional Director  Tracy  has programming  and administrative responsibility for the six libraries in the FRL. County librarians report to her. The bylaws of the FRL make this a part-time position for which she is paid a stipend. She advises Macon and Swain counties regarding becoming a two-library regional system.
